CANTERBURY RAM FAIR
DEMAND FOR CORRIEDALES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Canterbury ram fair opened today, when flock rams were sold'. The entry was 5400, an increase of 500-on last year's figure's. . There ; was an exceptionally keen demand for Corriedale and half-bred rams, the former selling up to 30gus., as compared with Signs..last year, and the latter to 12J gns.', as against Gfgns. last year. The prices for these classes were an outstanding feature of tho fair. English Leicoaters, which formed about half the total entry, sold well at up to 14 gns., but thd wants of suppliers were hot e(|ual to tho entry, and values subsided before the finish. There was also an over-supply of Romnoy, the top price for which was 14gns. For Border Leioesters the sale was patchy, at up to 8 gns., whilst Lincolns, Southdowns, and Shropshires were out of favour, the best prices being 4gns., sJgns., and 7gns. respectively.
