SOLDIER SETTLERS

GRANTS F.OR CHEESE FACTORIES

Two, grants of £SOOO each for the establishment of two cheese factories by parties of returned soldiers have been, approved by the Wellington Repatriation Board. The factories are to be established in the Tiratu block, near Dannevirke, and at Pihautea, part of the estate of the late Mr Bidwill, on the Ruamahunga river. In each of these settlements returned soldiers have banded together, twenty of them applying for a loan of £250 each with which to erect the plant. On Wednesday Mr C. W. Batten (local district repatriation officer), Mr T. Moss (a member of the Board), and Mr Curl, of the Da ; ry Department, left Wellington on a visit to the two settlements to consult with the soldier settlers. *
