MUTUAL HELP.

There is one aspect of the housing problem in New Zealand that has not received full consideration, and that is the possibility of relief being afforded by means of mutual help. It is safe to say that there are thousands of people in the Dominion, who have more accommodation in their private residences than is necessary for their own convenience. Hundreds of these belong to what is known as the working class. Is it not right that this accommodation should be made available to those who are walking the streets without a roof to their heads? One may have a groat respect for the privacy of his own home, but is ho not entitled to show greater respect for the lives of those who are homeless? A little self-sacrifice and mutual help at this period would go a considerable way towards relieving the distress occasioned by the shortage of houses.
