The Mayor's list for the relief of tho widow and children or the late Scrgt. Wiley lias opened as follows: W. Howard Booth £5 ss, W. C. Deller £2 2s. The Caledonian Society has decided to hold its next evening run on April 14, Avith tho following events:—soyds. dash, 100yd3., 220 yds. hurdles, halfmile, and eight-mile cycle race. Four substantial prizes for tho latter event have been offered by Messrs Morrison and Murray. The compilation of the programme for tho big sports to be held on Thursday, April 29, has been relegated to the sports committee. Mr. T. S. Arcus received word yesterday that hia brother was about tn undergo a serious operation at tho Palmerston North hospital. Mr. Arcus has loft for that town. The following team has been selected to represent Carterton in the final match for the champonship on Saturday: —F. Cliristensen, C. and W. Gallon, E. Phelps, E. Tunnicliffe, G. Riggs, E. B. Booth, L. H. Smart, E. F. Fairbrother, W. Bannin, R. Williams; emergencies: W. Ogier, G. Minns.
Mr. W. Baskivillo, who has been confined to his room for the past week wth influenza, was about town yesterday. .
Influenza is very rife here just now.
