Lady General is not quite ready yet.

The grey gelding Negambo, which was brought over from Australia by Mr W. R. Kemball, galloped resolutely in the Hack Handicap at Opaki and will bo worth watching when sent over the sticks.

Dainty Step was made a better fav-ourite-than Bed Ribbon in the Autumn Handicap at Opaki. Had the former prevailed the stable stood to win a tidy sum in doubles. The Luculls mare, although no match for Red Ribbon, stayed out the distance well, and should win shortly.

The scratchy preliminary given by Affectation prior to the , Stewards' Handicap put the public off the Kilbroney colt. When it came to galloping there was nothing else in it but Affectation.

The sporting public was very sore at the scratching of Sasanof, Golden Bubble and Co. being left till a late hour. Owners, of course, are their own masters, and can please them-' selves. They do not, however, keep, racing going.

Ringakaha is likely to have a big say in the decision of the Trial Plate at the Rangitikei meeting.

Bonny Briar looks to be the pick of those engaged in the Scott Memorial, and Affectation will hare to he well to heat her.

Paddington Green and Endure may be ahead of the others in the Ohakea Hack Hurdles. '

On recent running, Hepta and March On should be prominently placed in the Carnarvon Hack Handicap. Irapuka recently beat _ Early Dawn, which won the President's Handicap from Nobleman at Dannevirke.

Lovematcb is not overburdened in the Rangitikei Cup, though Nobleman U'best suited for the distancet Marquoteur may be hot.

Eisingham is top weight in the Pukenui Hack Welter, and will keep the rest of the field busy. Florist and Farce must be , reckoned with. The Digger will pay a dividend.

Idle Talk, on the weights, should prove better than Old Gold in the Parewanui Welter. Pretty Bobby must be hard.

Sweet Memory goes up lOlbs in the Ngatiapa Hack Handicap. It ia a "stopper." Samarang and Parorangi read well. Hori, however, cannot be overlooked.

Trainer P. E. Hazleman has taken oyer Mr Harold Brown's stables at Tanherenikau.
