WORKERS' EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION
ECONOMICS CLASS FORMED. There was a good attendance at the inaugural meeting of , the Masterton branch of the Workers' Educational Association, held in the municipal lecture room last evening, Mr W. T. Grundy occupied the chair, and Mr D. J..8. Seymour, the organising secretary, was also present, and addressed the meeting. In the course of his remarks, Mr Seymour stated that the classes which the Association proposed holding practically amounted to the University B.A. syllabus. The whole course would amount to practically all that the University taught,'and he hoped that at a later date the classes would be examined by one of the Professors from Wellington. Should Masterton decide upon two classes, the money required would be forthcoming, and the extra £4O would be probably found by Victoria University College. It was to be hoped that a tutor in time would be employed in classes extending from Martinborough to Dannevirke. On the motion of Mr Grundy, it was unanimously decided that an economics class be formed, and twenty-eight names were immediately handed to the secretary of the local branch (Mr F. Cunningham). It was also resolved that the names submitted be at once forwarded to the Tutorial Committee in Wellington. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Seymour, and also to Messrs W. T. Grundy and W. J. Tennent in recognition of their labours on behalf of the Association.
