TWO BIG HOLIDAY FEATURES
The change of programme at the Thompson-Payne Theatre this evening includes two very fine dramatic features. "Tho Life of a Mother" is a Nordisk production, 3000 feet in length. It is very original in idea, I and shows the life story of a deeply wronged girl whose determination and courage overcome almost insurmountable difficulties. The second big star is a Lubin film entitled ''A Hero Amongst Men." The story is set in modern times and opens with the love affairs of tho only daughter of the director of the • Imperial Arms Co., who infatuates two suitors of vastly different character, who both endeavour to obtain her hand in marriage. Throughout the entire length of this star the onlooker is kept thoroughly interested, excitement becoming intense when the powder room is discovered to be on-fire. A terrific explosion takes place, and the true value of both men is apparent; one proves an arrant coward, while the other bravely faces death in «rder U> sive those weaker than himself with the natural result' that he wins not only the admiration but the hand of the girl he has long wanted. This subject is 2500 feet in length, and is" most absorbing. Other dramas will be. "Suspense," a pretty child romance by Rex, and "The Only Chance," a sensational Selig feature. "The Cork Industry" is a most interesting item. , A number of other, pictures will .include the Eclair Jour-., nal, "Giles' Girl,',' "The. and "Old Doc Y«c." .
