NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.

For some unexplained. reason, but which probably hag to do with vne successful negotiations of a local "trust," New Zealand" butter will no longer be sold in the City of Portland (Oregon), states the San Francisco correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald» A telegram from that city announces this fact. For several weeks the New Zealand product had enjoyed a large success on the market, consumers approving of the article, both for its quality and for the fact that it brought about a general price reduction. The despatch from Portland states that "New Zealaud butter will be withdrawn from the local market, dealers having decided, to im ( port no more of it, and butter prices have already advanced to 38 cent® wholesale and' 45 cents retail." A San Francisco Importer of New Zealand "Better, who recent-, ly received a consignment of 3000 cubes, stated in confirmation of the Portland telegram, that the butter would be sold here, and'that none of it would be forwarded to that city; Every attempt has been made by local dealers and producers to discourage the_ sale of Australian and NewZealand meat and other products in America, and doubtless other difficulties of this character will be " encountered in building up the business so well started m the last six months. :
