dentally, I observe that the great j European designers are spreading. J Paquin is of Paris, London and Buenos Ayres —last named a fashionable centre. Lucille is of London, Paris and New York; and Worth of Paris and London. They are, too, forming into companies, or rather have done so, as I see "Ltd." repeatedly. Neckwear is a very attractive feature. A pretty ehiffon fichu has a aquare back and is trimmed with Indian embroidery. An exquisite Medici lace collar is finished with a small waistcoat effect of plaid silk. Then a cream net fichu has black silk collar section, comes down, to girdle, in gathered form to nothing, and is edged with a frill. A very choice collar is of the style shown with the last costume, the fronts falling in a square with long "V" opening, frilledged. The Medici style may be adapted to no end of pretty associate effects. One is- a bow, another the "waistcoat" just mentioned. A black, net bow "with high Medici ,on cream blouse is effective. Black is one-of the most acceptable features in'all]such relations. . We have found a charm, in it which previous to the. present season no one suspected. • •' -1 have done my best to portray a very difficult thing. It is a hat which'* is" literally built up, layer on layer, of a transparent material the vary-, ing shades of which are produced according to the thicknesses. The shape ig just indicated by the straw marks, everything else consisting of what is said, an osprey constituting
the crowning feature at back. This as you will see is higher than shown, the block having been shaved for space reasons. The model, whether it prints well or not, is a fine designer, one of -the best in Paris. The original was carried out in a tint that savours of what we call champagne, the varying degrees caused by the folds being many, and the general result superb.
