CROSSING ACCIDENT.

OLD MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N.', Last Night.

An old man nametl Stratford was tho victim of an open crossing accident at 7.30 this evening. When a goods train was passing the Post Office, he was crossing the line, and apparently did not hear the train approaching. He was struck by the engine and thrown clear of the line. Ho was 'taken td the hospital, suffering from concussion of the brain, and very little hope is entertained for his recovery. Later.

Felix Stratford, the elderly man injured in the Square crossing to-night, died half an hour after his admission to the hospital. The deceased was aged l 78 years. He was one of the pioneers of the district.
