Tho Wairarapa Automobile Assocta^:'"'• tion will hold a" run to Lake Ferry on Saturday next. Tho Masterton Borough Council ; has granted a subsidy of £3O towards tho funds of the Masterton Municipal Band.
The Masterton Borough Council offices will ho closed on December 25th, 26th and 27th. and on January Ist, 2nd and 3rd.
Nine new consumers were connected up with the Masterton gas works; during the month of November, making; a total for the current year of 63. It was decided at last meeting of the Masterton Borougilii Council that a civic reception he held in the Council Chambers in connect tion with the visit of American atln letes to Masterton. Cr* Temple was. elected deputy-Mayor, and to make arrangements in connection with thflh reception.
In consequence of statements made against him at Newtown Park oil Sunday, Mr W. T. Young has resigned his position as President of tho Federation of He will probably address a meeting in the Open?. House on Sunday next, when ho will disclose the position in reference t<i the strike and the Federation conference.
The Wairarapa Egg Circle has accepted «t contract: for .the'supply of 3000 dotzaa -preserved eggs,/delivery to be made -..shortly. .'•'- This contract; is with a Wellington •firm. I£ is quite possible that-a similar contract .will-'be entered into with a Wanganui firm. During the past three aM a half years the circle has distributed over £7OOO amongstits members.
Members of the Wairarapa South County Council met at the Waiohine bridge on Saturday afternoon and discussed the" plana of the proposed new 1 ferro concrete structure. These provide for a bridge which will be "20ft wide and' give 18ft road, space j -the estimated cost is £5147. . It was decided to adopt the - pips as drawn, by G. Lairig Meason and to proceed with the work at once. /
During'the month of Novembers 2,776,700, cubic feet of gas wore manu--factured- at the Masterton municipal gas works against 2,489,500 for ,the corresponding mdnth of 1912..', .-Foi? the same period of gas were sold, being an increase of 161,100 cubic feet on November, 1912. The cash receipts totalled £983 8s lid, against £968 19s 9d for November, 1912. During 'the month 1811 sacks of coke and 859 g&Uons of, tar were sold by the department.

I It is stated that the bonus given by Union Company to the officers 'fox loyalty during the strike means an outlay of £20,000. * A Timani telegram states that yesterday was the first fine clear day since Qctober 25th. Heavy cold rains fell iat the end of last week, especially in the Fairlie districts. A good deal of snow-has fallen on the ranges, the cold snap causing-the death of a number of freshly-shorn sheep. It is reported that 200 out of 280 in one flock I died, and- the motherless lambs will I probably follow. The manager of the Masterton gas works reported at last evening's meeting of the Borough Council that the coal supply continued short, only 91 tons having been received during the month, and stating that the council's thanks were due to the Wellington. Farmers' Meat Company, which had kindly agreed to let the gas works have a supply of coal sufficient to carry the works on until expected supplies come to hand. On tho motion of Cr Temple, it was decided that a vote of thanks be passed to the manager of the.Wellington Farmers' Meat Company for the supply of coal. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Masterton Lodge was held last night, ; ' Bro. F. Youle, N.G., presiding over a good attendance of member's.
