TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
NEW ZEALAND FORECAST. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological office, last evening wired as followa: — Southerly gales were experienced on Saturday with cold squally and showery weather; Conditions have since considerably improved, although squally and" showery weather has continued in many districts. Present indications are for a temporary increase in atmospheric prest, sure, but a westerly disturbance is likely to succeed shortly, and the general outlook for Christmastide is at present not reassuring. The southerly winds now prevailing will probably change by the west to northerfies and again increase, a brief improvement in weather conditions being followed by increasing cloudiness.
