EXTRAORDINARY CASE.
EASILY ACQUIRED WEALTH
Received Last Night, 8.40 o'clock.; NEW YORK, December 18.
Extraordinary revelations have have been made in Indiapolis in the prosecution of Mart:s Farris, his wife, and two daughters, accused of using the mails to defraud, in the operating of a matrimonial bureau. Farris pleaded guilty, and admitted that his daughter wrote letters to men who wished to marry her. The father then warned away the prospective Five men arrived at the iinancees home simultaneously, while fifty at the same time were engaged to one ciaughter named Louise.
The latter succeeded in getting large sums of gold, diamonds and bracelets from would-be wooers.
One victim is stated to be a wellknown pugilist. Whenever the gifts arrived at Farris' home a general scramble ensued, and whoever succeeded in grabbing the package kept the contents. The recital of the evidence kept the Court in laughter throughout.
