APARTMENT HOUSE AND ARMY SHELTER.

THRILLING JUMP TO SAFETY

(Keceived December 17, 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 16. A fire destroyed an apartment house in the city. Several occupants saved their Jives by making thrilling jumps to the pavements. A woman and a fireman died in the flames, which enveloped the building in a few minutes. An enormous crowd watched the conflagration, and there was great excitement. CINCEsNATTI, December 16. A fire, believed to be due to incendiaries, destroyed a Salvation Army shelter. Eight of the occupants are dead and, others are reported missing. The bodies were burnt to cinders.
