GENERAL ASSEMBLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand met in St. Paul's Cathedral, Christchurch. The retiring Moderator, the Rev. Andrew Cameron, 8.A., of Anderson Bay, conducted the opening service, and'installed lib successor,'the Rev. Wm. Macara, of Kaikoura, who gave an able address on "The person and work of Jesus Christ." The convenor of the statistics committee stated that there are 39,957 communicant members, an increase oif 1491 for the year. A noteworthy feature is that 2351 members- were received by examination. The Convenor reported a gross total revenue of almost £150,000. the sum of £15,933 having been contributed during the yonr far Home and Foreign Missions. 1 There are 1243 churches and preaching places in the Dominion.
