MR CONGDON AND THE SPECIALS.

(To the Editor)

Sir—l am sorry to learn that Mr Congdon considers some of the statements, as set forth by "Special, ' are likely to prove misleading to the public. I am not aware of having mentioned that Mr Congdon had resigned, or forwarded his resignatian to the cricket club; but if he follows hist expressed desires he will, no duobt, do so at the earliest opportunity. "Reason," asked, "who is this man who refuses to plav cricket on account of having to play with a special?" and immediately we have Mr Congdon's reply, which - leaves no roolm for doubt that he is the person concerned. If Mr Congdon did not directly acquaint thb cricket club of his reaaons f/>r not being available for selection, lie brought the matter very (forcibly . before them , through the columns of vonr journal: Ml" Congdon also refutes tlie statement made by "Special" that He has changed his opinion. lam not surprised at this. His correspondence has shown that he is rather an errant individual, and tRe writer would not be surprised that he does not remember precisely what his opinion was at such a remote period. In conclusion, Mr Editor,, since Mr Congdon haa intimated that he does not wish to oontinue correspondence, I will not taunt him further, but with regard to his reinark about your correspondents, "Reason" and "Special," having no backbone, I wduld refer him to that adage ''Fools rush in," etc. Thanking you, Mr Editor, for your p&st courtesy, and trusting: you will find space for this •I .am. etc .. -A A "SPECIAL."
