THE N.S.W. ELECTIONS.
' The result of the New South Wales; elections, which took place on Saturday, are inconclusive. With eighth een or twenty second ballots to be taken, and the parties very evenly divided, it is impossible to say which side will have a majority at the finish. One of the most interesting features of the election is the routing- of the new "Progressive" party instituted by Mr Beeby, a former Minister of Labour, who, it will be remembered, severed his connection with the Labour Ministry some months ago. The defeat of Mr Henry Willis, the picturesque ex-Speaker, will not come as a surprise. The manner in which he assumed the Speakership, and the despotic manner in which he controlled the House and the newspapers, brought him into conflict with a large section of the public. . The whole of the Ministers appear to have been returnedl and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr G. 0. Wade) has. secured his seat With a handsome majority.
