SOCIAL NEWS AND FASHIONS.
Mrs Laird Meredith, "Waioronga" has Misa O'Donovan visiting her.
•Mrs W. Robieson, -of Cavelands, returns home from Wellington to-day.
Mrs Tatham, "Homowood,".,!.^staying with her daughter, Mrs Homer, of Marton,
Mrs Donald. "Mahunga," is going to Wellington for a few days to-day.
A most enjoyable afternoon was spent at Mrs T. Sleaman's on Thursday, the occasion being a kitchen tea, given ;to»Miss Rixon |or 'her approaching marriage.. Many handsome and useful presents were received. The hostess was very winsome in making, the afternoon it' pleasant one. ,A vote of thanks was passed,to Mrs Sleaman and all the ladies, for their kindness. The afternoon was .brought to a close by the isinging of "For they are jolly good fellows."
