"GODS" MAKE THEMSELVES FELT.
Times'—'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received Deo. 1, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. At the Repertory Theatre, Liverpool,lrish players from the Abbey Theatre, London, produced "The Playboy of the Western World." In view of a possible hostile reception, the gallery was closed, but the "gods" invaded the family circle, and threw blackthorns on to the stage, narrowly missing the actors. Twenty men were ejected by the police, and the performance was ended amid boohing and hissing.
The season was in consequence cancelled.
