W. Sollar, H. T. Wood, Mm Payton; I secretary, Mr H. M. Boddington. j The summer show of the Master- I ton Horticultural and Industrial So- ' ciety was held in the Drill Hall, yes- I terday afternoon and evening, there j being a big attendance of horticulture enthusiasts and tho general public. The various exhibits were attractively arranged, and made a. very fine display, the decorative classes attracting ranch attention. The cut flowers and pot plants made a very imposing ex- } hibition, and it is generally conced- ) ed that the display of these classes j has excelled any exhibition yet seen j in Masterton. Tho decorative sec- | tions also came in for special com- j mendation, and the various exhibits showed that the exhibitors have benefited by past experience. Tin's was especially the case in the decorated table class, the prize takers displaying a fine knowledge of this art. The rose classes did not come up to those of past seasons, due entirely to the unfavourable weather conditions of the early part of the season. In pot plants, chief honours went to Mr J. S. Berriman and Mr A. Webber. The former's) exhibition of petunias and geraniums was specially commented on by the judge. Mrs G. W. Sellar gained most points in cut flowers, aeouring the Henderson ) Bowl. The exhibits of this competi- ] tor were very favourably commented on. In roses, the championship was awarded to Mrs R. O. Smith, with "Juliet" rose, a very fine specimen. The silver bowl for sweet peas went to Mr W. W. Westaw~ay, of Te Horo, who exhibited some splendid specimens. In the cottagers' class, hon- I ours were fairly evenly divided. Taken all round, the show was an unqualified success, anS perhaps the best yet held by the Society. Tho arrangements were most complete, due to the efforts of tho society's secretary (Mr H. M. Boddington) and a. strong committee. PRIIE-LI3T, The following is the prize list: — POT PLANTS.
