Our Own Correspondent. At the statutory..meeting of. the Wairarapa South County Council on, Wednesday, Cr. W. Perry was" reelected chairman for the ensuing year. . • " ' . ''.,'.• ' A party of Carterton tradesmen and residents have arranged, to rnako the ascent of Mount Holdsworth by way of the Maungatarere Valley. It is the intention of the party to survey the route for future parties-. The party consists of seven, and were to leave at nine this morning, returning to-night. At a meeting of the Carterton. Borough Council on Tuesday evening, Mr - Jas. Moncrieff, town clerk, tendered his resignation on account of pressure of work with other duties. The resignation was accepted with" regret. It will take effect si the end of the financial vear—March olstj 1914. , - - VA meeting motor cycle sub* committee pf the Wairarapa Automobile Association was held on Tuesday evening at Carterton, Mr M. ETgar presiding. The programme for the forthcoming motor race at Tauherenikau on January . 15th, 1914, was -submitted. The prizemoney .and trophies amounted to £69 for nine events, the chief prize being £lO for the Wairarapa Championship fan open event), which is expected to draw entries from all parts. Entries were fixed at £s 6d for the big event, 5s and 2sJkTfor other events. Messrs Dare© Bridge ..(Wellington) and I. V. Wilson (FeatlTeWon) appointed handicappers. It was do-" "" > cided to hold a two-mile speed trial at Carterton on December 13th, the course bein«r from the bridge at Booth's Creek, Middle Run, to Oliver's Corner.
