DRIVERS GO OUT AT CHRISTCHURCH.
CHRISTCHUBCH, Last Night. The Drivers' Union hold a big meeting in the Socialist's Hall thd* mo-rningj in which a great deal of interest was f&ken. The crowd, or a* much of it as could got into the Hall went in at 9 a.m. and came out at at twenty-live minutes to two, so that it took about 4f hours of heated argument (judging by the noise) to arrive at a decision. A newspaper man who saw Mr Hiram Hunter directly alter the clv»e of the meeting asked what decision had been arrived at. "Well, the strike is on," said -Mr Hunter. "Does everybody come in?" was a question. "Yes, everyone," said Ml 5 Hunter, "including the council n;t.:i and bakers." "Have any-exemptions been granted?" "No; none," replied the secretary oi the Drivers Union. The decision of the meeting me£ii« that if the Federation can manage it. there will he no transport in the city with exception of the drivers oi coal and meat carts; and" t"B*e work done by the owners of private carts and taxicabs, till the strike is declared off.
