Mr and. Mrs Funten are the guests of Mr and Mrs .Bennett, Lansdowne. Mrs T. Evans, of the Upper Plain, has tiiken her children to Day's Hay for six weeks' holiday. Miss Williams, supervisor at the Master ton Telephone lixi-'hmye, leaves to-day on a month's holiday, which she intends spending in various townships in the north. j On Saturday last Mrs Bennett gave a delightiul children's party for her youngest son Maurice, oil h:s sixth birthday. Tho weathor was rather disappointing, hea>y snowors falling mctil of the afternoon, wh'cli rather upset the programme or. sports arranged for the children s amusement, but in spite of the, all present had a real good timo. The tea-table was set on the verandah, and prettily decorated with white ixcia and red geraniums. Mr; Bennett was, wearing apricot coloured I iilhirde, wilh black trimmings, .and a large black hat with white feather and black velvet bow. the children present were Gordon, -Elva and Wyvern Cook, Cicely Francis, Claire Smith, Molly Cellar, Freda Rummer, Margaret, Alison, and. lOlspeth Donald. Max, Erl and Gray Campbell, Betty and Douglas Donald, Garth Williams, l)ick Whrdo!l, Iluia and .Norman llobieson, Clarenee and Hardy Meredith, Alex Johnson, Angel Caselberg, asd .'Nigel Wood. A few of the parent; and friends that were preseut were: Mm F. lvummer, navy cost'ii.u, green hat; Mrs Donald, blue co-it arid .skirt with white stripe, purple hat; Miss Hislop, black and white .stripe costume, black hat wreathed w'-th pan- ' sies ; Mrs Francis, navy costume, braided witli black, burnt straw but with brown floral silk crown; Mrs O. Smith, Mrs V. Ikmdh!, Mrs 1 onion, Mrs Tabuteau, Mrs Wood Mrs H. Donald, Mrs Coo T c, RJiv 'ihonias, Mrs Johnson, Mrs • Campbell, Mrs Sc!:«r, I Miss Robieson, Miss Gower, Misses Young (2), Miss HoimwooJ. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Augustine's Church, Napier,,an Wednesday last, by the Rev Canon Tuke, the contracting parties being Mr Walter Richard JS'ewall, of Hastings, third son of Mr and Mrs K Newall, oF Dunedin, and Miss Mamie Elliott, second daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Elliott, of Bay View, Napier.
