THE "SMART SET."

The triplo charm of .music, mirth, and merriment will be in evidence in the programmes! presented "by the "Smart Set" at the Town Hall tonight, under the direction of Walter Gedrge and Maynard Dakin. Mr George is credited with being the originator of all costume comedy companies, and the present organisation have been in existence ton- the past ten years with the exception or Mr Dakin, who will be well and favourably remembered in conjunction with the English Pierrots, who visited the district last year. The programmes presented by this clever combination depart from the beaten track of this class of entertainment, and in place of the time-worn material they provide song, comedy, and sketch of a kind that cannot fail to please. The "Smart Set" are a happy band of entertainers, whose special .mission in life is to amuse the public with harmless fun and frivolity. They come well recommended, and have most laudatory criticisms from the press in the many countries visited during the past ten years. Referring to their Melbourne season, the Argus says: "It can lie said without hesitation that the 'Smart Set' performance is one of the best ever given in Melbourne." The Age says: "The programme includes items which were given in so refined a manner that -the 'Smart Set' created a most favourable impression." The company have an wili'iiited repertoiro of original and unique character sketches, humorous novelties, concorted numbers, ventriloquial items, revues, burlesque dramas, operetta®, duets, coon songs, and choruses, and were enabled to give n 25 weeks' reason in Melbourne without exhausting their budget of novelties. The entertainment provides two hours' continuous laughter, and the popular prices should induce large attendances. The box plan is at the Dresden.
