Tanner, the fasting man, who is living at Hartword, Connecticut, expressed a desire to marry Mrs Pankhurst, pointing out that the abstention from ' food constituted an ideal link between them. nK Pankhurst was besieged by repadl, who were anxious to know hsfw®?she regarded the proposal. Flushed with anger, she described the offer as insulting. "I am a politician," she added, "and not a marrying person."
