SAWMILL DESTROY*:O
DAMAGE AMOUNTS TO £BOOO.
(/'>• Telegraph — Press Aisociahon.) TAURANGA, Last Night. Jvuly yesterday morning a fire oc-curi-'U* at the Amanawa Falls mill, belauding to Oammana, Ltd., Taunnma. A small mill and planing plant wore completely destroyed, the damage amounting to about £3OOO. Over one hundred men were employed at tho 'mill, bat owing to the strike, it closed down the previous day. Tho men had not left, and owing to their efforl-3 and a good supply of water, about a million feet of timber in stack was saved, Mr Gamman, the proprietor, warmly praises the_mo«: for their willing assistance in fighting the outbreak. The mill and plant was one of tho most Tip-to-date in the Dominion. The cause of the fire was probably due to a spark getting into the shavings, or from one of the lopo motives. The insurances amount to .-S'loOO i» the Norwich office.
