A n-legram, signed by nearly the whole of tho professional and business men of Woodvillo. has been forwarded to Mr J. H. Escott, .member tor Pahiatua, askinp him to convoy to the Minister of Justice their con^ratula-
tions on the action token by him to maintain law and order, and U> protect the welfare of the Dominion.— Press Association.
The Eketahuna Chamber of Commerce passed the following resolution:—"This Chamber congratulates the Government on the firm- stand it has taken during the strike in maintaining law and order, making it possible for farmers to ship their produce, thereby saving the Dominion from ruination."—Press Association.
It has hjßoji decided on a requisition signed by ten financial members, that a special meeting of the General Labourers' Union (Wellington branch) be called for Friday evening "to consider what action shall be takon in the present industrial trouble.''
The membership of the new W barf Labourers' Union at Wellington now numbers 430. A few of the carters who went on strike have Joined the union, also a number of the water-' siders who "downed tools."
