MASTERTON HOSPITAL NURSE.
(To the Editor)
gi,. —Wo desire to in>oke tlio assistance of all ox-patients of tho Mas-ter-ton Hospital towards a project that will commend itself to thorn. While the Hojspital itself is very up-to-date in its equipment, no recreation whatever is provided tor the nurses who faithfully tend tho patients. Tho Nurses' Home does no. even possess a gramaphone, lot alone a piano. Some tr.no ago the nurses, in desperation clubbed together, and "succeeded out of their slender finances, in raising a sufficient sum to provide for tile hire of a gramaphone for a month/ Further, although there is ample ro3H in the grounds, theie is no tennis court or croquet grounds. The absence of these things, which considering the arduous and try lll *? nature of nursing work, are necessities if the nurses are to keep in good health and spirits, is a serious matter that should bo at once remedied. we -think it is the duty of the ex-patients who all know tho position and conditions, to take a hand. We propose that fill ex-patients should meet and form a> deputation to the Hospital authorities to urge the immediate remedying of these matters as being aiv urgent necessity. If it is found that there are no funds or insufficient funds available, for the purpose, then we suggest that the deputation proceed to devise ways and means. The publio will respond if the matter is put to them. We invite all expatients, and also any of tho public who arc willing to assist to meet at the A. and P. Society's rooms ill Perrv Street at 8 a.m. on next Friday, 14th inst.
