WORK AT TIMARU.

SMALL STEAMERS' CREWS GO OUT.

TIMARU. Last Night

The four coastal steamers Breeze, Storm, Holmdale, and Kairaki, and the barque Manunurewa (discharging Australian timber) were worked to-day. The crew of the storm, who gave notice on the trip from Wanganui, left the ship. It is stated that another crew is available, and that she will probably get away for Wanganui to-night heiore the notice expires. It is understood the Holmdale and Kairaki crews have received telegrams, but have not given notice. The Holmdale is loading for Hokitika. The captain had a wire urging him to hasten, to relieve an incip:ent famine.
