IMPERIAL INTERESTS.

RELATIONS BETWEEN THE ARMY.

BRITAIN AND JAPAN

Times' —'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received Last Night, 7.45 o'clock.) LONDON, November 12. Major-General Sir G. A. French, replying to the toast of "The Army," the Guildhall banquet, said that, as chief of the Imperial General Staff, he was always in the closest communication with the staffs of the

oversea dominions. He was very glad to be able to assure them that the relations between tho various parts of the Imperial Army were growing closer and more cordial every year. The Japanese Ambassador, in replying on behalf of the diplomatic body, said it was a source of much gratification to him to be able to announce that the relations between Britain and Japan were never more satisfactory. -It was scarcely necessary for him to assure Britain that Japan was determined to be extra loyal to her oompact. He hoped that the alliance between* Britain and Japan would continue to stand as a -guarantee of peace, and be the means of consolidating their mutual and material interests in the' Far East.
