A RELIEF FUND.
STARTED IN MASTERTON.
A deputation from tho trades unions of Masterton, accompanied by Mr A. W. Hogg, waited upon His Worship the "Mayor (Mr J. M. Coradino) yesterday morning, and asked that he take, steps to organise a fund for the relief of the wives and children of the Wellington strikers. The Mayor expressed the opinion that the matter was one for private action. He did not think it desirable., to call a- public meeting, but lio< was prepared to contribute £1 himself, on condition that lie received an assurance that the money would not go into the hands of tlie Strike Committee. Mr .Hogg also contributed £1 towards tho fund. We understand that Mr Hogg has consented to act as treasurer to the fund, and tjiat any moneys received will be sent to a properly-organised relief committee.
