The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological office, last evening wired as follows: —
The winds changed to strong southerlies everywhere during Tuesday night, and the Aveather has been squally and showery, and muclt Colder generally to-day. The barometttf lias risen nearly everywhere. Preseht indications are for cool, changeable, and ishoAvery weather, Avith (strong but decreasing southerly Avinds. The barometer is likely to rise further, especially in the north, but fall again in the feouth shortly.
