The Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr Davidson), presiding at the Men's Conference, said it was necessary to reassert the principle that what was disgraceful in a woman was disgraceful in a oman. The i Christian standard did not allow any compromise. Sir James Cricliton-Browne, M.D., said that the seed of impurity was disseminated by impure literature, problem plays, suggestive pictures, lewd dancing, and corrupt comii.umcatlons. The nation needed a little revival of Puritanism, less frivolity, and more earnestness.
