"PEOPLE'S DAY?' SPOILT BY BAIN.
(By Telegraph —Press Atsociaiim.} PALMERSTON N., Last Night. Tho .attendance for tho "People's Day" of the show wa« spoiled by rain. Early in the morning showers were falling with unerring regularity and .many country people were prevented from attending. The grounds were considerably cut up,' 1 - which made, it very unpleasant for the visitors underfoot. During the afternoon the weather cleared, and there was a good attendance of townspeople. The riders' competition was won by D. Bennett, and the hunters' competition, which is the principal attraction of the «how.. was won by W. H. Brewer, of Hawera, with Miss Kubv Chapman, Wa'ikato, second, and'W. Brown, Cambridge,, third.
