WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological office, last evening wired as follows:

The barometer has risen in southern districts, but is still below normal everywhere. A southerly wind has prevailed to-day in the south, and westerly winds, strong to gale, have continued in and northward of Cook Straits.
