WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological office, last evening wired as follows:
The barometer has risen in southern districts, but is still below normal everywhere. A southerly wind has prevailed to-day in the south, and westerly winds, strong to gale, have continued in and northward of Cook Straits. Heavy rain fell last night and this morning in most parts, and the weather "has been generally unsettled and boisterous. Present indications are for strong westerly and south-westerly winds, with squally and changeable weather. Heavy showers in many parts of the country.
