TliLv<ififirch was- very prettily decorated with flowers and evergreens, «nd yvitli the children on . tho raised platform posented'a very artistic sight. The minister at nil services was the Kev. G. S. Cook, of Thorndoti, Wellington, who delivered very earnest arid interesting addresses to the children. His subject at the ir.ornirfg service was -'Jesus set a iittlft child in their midst." The speaker referred to the beginning of the Sunday school mpvement, which \vastfounded by Robert Raikes in the early part of tho 18th century, and to the important part tho hacking of the parents played in this work. At the present time there wore 30,000,000 Christian Sunday school children, 8,000,000 of, whom were Methodists. At ilia afternoon .service Mr Cook took as his subject "Watch," and gave a very interesting talk to tin? children on tho things they should l»vatch in their d'ailv life. A special feature of thf .services was the «.ing--ing by the school children, who wereassisted by a fine: orchestra, under the baton of Mr A. Williams. Tho hymns and solos were well render.ee!, and did credit to the conductor. The services will l»e continued this evening, when the annual public meeting will be held. There will he further special singing by tho children, presentation of prizes, address, annual report for the year, and recitations by the diildren.
