PRESS CONFERENCE.
CHEAPER CABLES ADVOCATED
(Received Last Night, 10 o'clock.) SYDNEY, October 22.
Sir Gerald Strickland, opening the County Press Conference, paid a tribute to the efforts of Mr Henniker Heaton in ■"regard-to a penny-a-word cable service, and said Australia would never be a great country till communication was established as freely as speech. He hoped to see an Atlantio State-owned cable, which would cheapen cable rates. *~ A resolution was adopted against signed newspaper articles.
