RURAL HOMES.
For some;c6nsiderable time there has been a strong demand amongst a section of the workers of Masterton'fwr the establishment of riiral homes, and it ie gratifying to note that the movement bears every appearance of being darrietl to a isftue. Land ha* been offered to tbe ment for the purpose, aaid Mr J,. Lomas, Secretary of Labour, will visit Jfasterton to-morrow with a view to meeting applicants, when it is probable th« matter will be definitely settied. Apparently the only st/umblfisg block up to the present has Wn.ithe pt\V.r asked for the land under offer,-
and as this is likely to be satisfactorily settled, there is every reason to believe that within a short period a number of workers will be established on rural sections. There are likely to be between forty and fifty applicants for homes;'and this will prob* ably necessitate a ballot being taken. Once; however, the question of taking up the land and erecting the homes is definitely arranged, the minor details' will soon; adjust themselves;
