, Increasing. westerly winds have prevailed, gales being reported this afternoon at Farewell Spit and New Plymouth. Fair tOj cloudy weather < has predominated, with rain in parte and higher temperatures are reported' to-day. Present indications are for strong westerly winds, squally at times, and southward'of Oook Strait, with fair to cloudy weather in the north, and unsettled conditions, with rain probable', southward of New Plymouth andl Oastlepoint, The barometer is unsteady, with a falling tendency ? especially, in the south.
