THE SULZER CASE.
CABLE NEWS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright)•)
ALLEGED WHOLESALE "CRAFT" MR SULZER MAKES A STATEMENT. (Received Last Night, o'clock.) NE"VV YORK, October 18. Mr Sulzer, Governor of New York, has issued a statement denying tlie charges upon which he was impeached, and alleging that some of the Judges are personally interested in his removal from office. He further alleges that "Boss" Murphy controlled the entire proceedings of the Court. Instead of being an, Impeachment Court, it ought to have been described as "Murphy's Court of Infamy." Mr Sulzer charges Murphy with wholesale "graft," and declares that his efforts to secure an investigation of such charges really led to his impeachment. The farce trial he underwent had opened the public s eyes to the millions of dollars lost annually through "graft." The trial was nothing less than a political lynching. The Progressive Party has offered a vacant Congressional nomination to Mr Sulzer.
