DEMONSTRATION IN SYDNEY
(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock ) _ , SYDNEY. Oct. 18. Rose Day and the United Charities netted ovor £3OOO. Brilliant weather prevailed, and the streets were filled with booths laden with roses, supplied by suburban gardens. Hundreds of ladies drove brisk sales, which were backed by subscriptions. # . The sports section included a. Roman chariot race on the Agricultural Grounds, and drew 15,000 spectators. . . The new scheme for raising funds was a great success.
