WHAT IS "MECCANO."
THE NEW HOBBY FOR BOYS. Parents have often puzzled over the question of what to buy their boys for a present, tho object being to get him something that he will not merely like when it is new, but that he will go on liking. A great deal of money is spent on toys which are broken in a few days and cease to give-- pleasure. The question of "what to give our boy" is now solved. by the introduction to Masterton by Messrs Graham and iCo. of "Meccano," the ne»v hobby for bright boys. "Meccano" may briefly be described as "a hundred toys in one." It consists of an outfit of plated metal strips, accurate gear wheels, pulleys, rods, nut, holts, etc., from which a boy can construct tracks, cranes, flipflap, waggons, bridges, windmills, to\vt*r bridge, transporter bridges, roundabout, viaduct 'bridges, flying nfaehines, coal tip, towers, railway signals, lighthouse, cakewalk, Eiffel tower, big wheel, -.nortor 'bus, monoplane, cable railway, etc. Everything necessary is provided in the outfit. There is nothing further to buy, and the youngest boy can commence at once without previous study. The parts are indestructable, and may be used over and over again. , A boy can produce fine, strong, and stoutlvbuflt working models of tho world's mechanical wonders.
