Our Own Correspondent. The shearing' season will be opened this week on the Glenburn station, at the' Coast, where shearing machines have recently, been installed. The" spell of fine weather an the . East Coast was broken on Thursday last by a" violent thunderstorm from the south-east, rain continuing . for several days, and seriously interfering with docking operations. The average lambing percentage on v the stations surrounding Te Wharau is recorded at well above a hundred. The Opaki Rifle Club will visit Te Wharau on Saturday next to try conclusions with the local club in a. shooting match over ranges of 300 yds, 500 yds and 600 yds*. „ A very successful 'concert was held at Flat Point last week there being a large attendance, and a fine pro- s gramme of vocal items ware contributed by the following:—Songs : M. Iggulden, H. Mason, L. Neilsen, T. Roberts, J. Dickson ; recitations: T. Knight, Roy Messenger (5), J. Daniells, F. A.' Miller, A. Vile, C. (i. Sykes and T. M. Downes. Mr P. Butler kindly officiated at the piano.
