CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING
(By Telegraph — Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. The New Zealand Golf Championship Meeting was continued to-day in splendid weather. There was bright sunshine and a clear, blue sky prevailing all day. The wind was from a northerly direction, but was not of any strength. The greens improved wonderfally and the course was ia splendid order. Some of the play was of a particularly high standard, and many good contests were witnessed, particularly the professional match between W. B. Simpson, Wellington, and F. G. Hood, Auckland, which was carried to the 19th hole. Results:— Amateur Championship: Ist round. ~R.„ Duncan (Wellington) beat P. Q. Wright (Timaru), 5 up and 4 to play ; W. S. D. Harman (Christchurch) beat C. Turnbull (Dunedin) 5 up and 4; H. C, Smith (Dunedin) beat G..M. Dodgshun (Gisborne), 3 and 2; A. D. S. Duncan (Wellington) beat G. L. Cuthbertson (Invercargill), 3 and 2; G. B. Forrest (Seacliff) beat E. S. Shores (Cliristchurch), 1 up; B. B. Wood (Christchurch) beat G. Goss (Wanganui), 5 and 4; J. R. Park (Dunedin.) beat J. A Bogey Handicap Match was played in the afternoon, there being 82 entries, and the following are the principal results: J. Goss (hep. 2). 1 up; B. L. Taylor (2), 1 up; A. D. S, Duncan (owes 9), all square; W. T. D. Harman (2), 1 down; C. Templer (4), 1 down.
1914 CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. {By Telegraph—Frm Association.) DDNEDIN, Last Night. At" the. annual meeting of the Golf Association, hejd to-night, applications were received fro-n Auckland, and Napier, and on the vote being taken the tournament was awarded to Auckland.
