ACCOMPLICE PAYS THE PENALTY. 'Times'—'Sydney Sun' Special r , (Received Last Night, 8 o'clock.) LONDON, October 15. - John Chowley, a bootmaker, has been charged with forging a cheque. The detectives gave evidence that he is the cleverest' thief and forger known, rivalling Jim Penman in escaping prosecution. He always remained in the background. On this occasion his accomplice named Pearse was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.
