Mr A. 6. Knapp, for some years County Overseer, died; at Spring Grove, Nelson, oh Sunday. , A Sydney cable records the death <rf the Rev. Dr Dill Macky, the eminent Presbyterian clergyman. ' Mr J. D. MoGruer, head of the well'known firm of that name, left on Monday last on a visit to Europe. The death occurred at Nelson on Saturday last of Mr James Kershaw, for many years an engineer in\that township. Messrs M. Iggulden and Roy Messenger returned to Masterton on Tuesday, after a very enjoyable sojourn at Flat Point. '■ The Masterton Lawn Tennis Club ;has elected Mes,sra D. Caselberg and F. Dennistoa delegates to the Wel- ; lington Lawn Tennis Association. Mr Fred. Moore, formerly of Masterton, has been elected to the com- •' cnittee of the Manawatu A. and P. ' Association. He took his seat for a first time on Tuesday, and was welcomed by the President and others. At the annual meeting last evening of the Masterton Lawn Tennis Club, a rote of appreciation was passed of' the excellent services rendered to the club by Mr F. Treader, who has filled the position of groundsman for the past ten years with conspicuous ability. There died at the residence of his «>n, "Studley," Kiwitea, one of the ■,'. oldest and most respected residents of the Dominion, Mr Robert Kidd. It is 56 years since Mr and Mrs Kidd settled at Kai twi, near Wanganui, where he carried on the strenuous life «rf a farmer, bringing their family up amidst difficulties never dreamt of at the present time.
