Mr Arthur L. Joseph, meat exporter, of Christchurch, is at present a visitor to MastertosH;.
The health of Mr Bland Rayner, of Masterton, hag been very unsatisfactory of late, and he has been confined to his house for"some weeks.
A cable message received on Saturday announced the death of the Marquis Katsura,. a former Premier of Japan. Mr S. J. Tlipe, chairman of directors of the Eketahuna Terminating Building Society, has been presented by the society with a valuable pipe, in recognition of his pa,<it services to the society.
On Friday next, Mr Tom L. Mills, editor and part proprietor of the Feilding Star, leaves Wellington fewAdelaide to preside over the twodays' conference of the Australasian Provincial Press Association ,of which he is president. He will be the only Nfew Zealander at the conference.
At a meeting of director? of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society on Saturday, Messrs J. B. McKenzie, T. and othere present made eulogistic reference to the excellent work done for the society by Mr J. Georgeson, President, who leaves on Tuesday for Dune din. Mr Georgeson, in responding, said he would endeavour to be present at the society's annual gathering on New Year's Day.
