A quiet wedding took place at the residence of Mr Alexander Gow, Featheraton, on Tuesday morning, when Mr George Thomas Baker, son of Mr James F. Baker, of Christchurch, was married to Miss Bertha Gibson, youngest daughter of MiHenry Gibson, of Kurnara. The bride was given away by her brother, MiGibson. Mr H. H. Stewart was best man, and Miss Eunice M. Garland, niece of the bride, attended as bridesmaid. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. K. Stowell. The bride and bridegroom left by motor car for the North, where the honeymoon will be spent.

A quiet but pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. H. Taplin, Akura-road, Masterton, on Tuesday afternoon, wlien Miss Nellie Taplin., only daughter of Mr and Mi's J". H. Taplin, was married to Mr J. E. W. Cane, of Masterton. The .bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr A; Y. Taplin, w£is charmingly attired in a dress of ivory silk trimmed with silk insertion, and wore the aisual veil and orange blossoms. Miss E. Wood, of Masterioffy. AS bridesmaid, wore silk muslin, trimmeaV wit h insertion. Mr F. I H. Taplin acted as best man. The happy couple were triC recipients of numerous and costly pr6sC nts fro ™ their many friends. The bridegi'» oom ® -present to the bride .was # gw bangle, and to the bridesmaid S brooch set with olivines. Mr and Mrs Cane left by the afternoon train for Napier, wliere the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride's travelling dress was a navy biuo costume with hat to match. | i i i i
