MUTUAL BUILDING SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Workers' Mutual Benefit Building Society of Masterton was held in the secretary's office last evening. Mr R. Krahagen presided over a large number of shareholders. The secretary read minutes of last meeting, which were confirmed on the motion of Mr Gardner, seconded by Mr Cambourn.
The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said the directors and secretary had worked hard during the year, and congratulated shareholders on the very prosperous year. Mr R. Brown, seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Messrs A. Gardner, J, W. Gordon, and J. Prentice were re-elected directors.
Mr G. W. Sellar, was re-elected shareholders' auditor.
Mr P. L, Hollings moved "that the directors be authorised toi have prepared a prospectus for a new society, and issued to members of the present society and general public; and when 200 shares have been applied for, to call a public meeting of subscribers for the purpose of authorising the registration and approve of rules, the present directors to be the provisional directors."
Mi' Crass well seconded the .notion, which was carried. The tender of Mrs Pulport was accepted foi>' the £3OO offered by sale. Mr Hollings moved a hearty vote of thanks to the directors, secretary (Mr A. Hathaway), and his assistant, for the good work they had done during tho past year. Mr Brown seconded the motion, which was carried.
