METHODIST CENTENARY.
MESSAGE FROM THE KING
'Times' —'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received Last Night, 6.40 o'clock.) LONDON, October 8.
At the centenary celebrations of Methodism, Dr Brown, of the Australian Conference, said the great hope of the Society was the foundation of native churches, and the training of native ministers.
The Rev. A. La wry graphically described the Cliristianisation of the Maoris.
Reports from all parts of the world announced the vigorous spread of Methodism. Lord Stamfordham, on behalf of King George, wrote: "His Majesty recognises the religious and philanthropic work so universally extended by Methodist Missionary Societies in promoting the noble aims of Christianity, and offers his hearty congratulations on the high results achieved during the hundred years of its ministry."
